     Meredith George Blackman was born on 8 October 1876 at Hartley, New South Wales, Australia, .1,2 He was the son of Charles Samuel Blackman and Christina Susan Nicholson.1 Meredith George Blackman began military service on 17 August 1915 when he enlisted with the Australian Imperial Force.2 He ended military service on 29 August 1919; when, as a Temporary Company Quarter Master Sergeant in the 12th Battalion he was discharged. During his service in the AIF, Meredith received many awards for bravery. He received the Distinguished Conduct Medal, as well as the Military Medal with two bars.2 He died in 1957 at Narrabri, New South Wales, Australia, .1
